Chocolate Trends 2022

Chocolate is a synonym for “time out”, for “indulgence”, for “doing something good for yourself”. Especially in the pre-Christmas season, chocolate shows up in all its variations: from chocolate bars to pralinées or chocolate refined with special ingredients such as herbs, nuts or in combination with sweets such as popcorn or jellies. Especially in the chocolate world, new and exciting flavors and ingredients are introduced.

Chocolates Well-being effect in times of pandemic

In challenging times chocolate has strengthened the effect to treat yourself to a little time out and to do something good for yourself. Chocolate is well placed to support consumers’ mental well-being. Indeed, when asked why people eat chocolate or sugar confectionery, consumers are quick to cite the mental benefits of such products. “32% of German confectionery eaters eat candy to boost their moods, as do 53% of Polish candy eaters. 51% of chocolate eaters in Brazil agree that eating chocolate can have a positive effect on their mental health”. (Mintel)

Mental health plays a major role in the overall health. But what if chocolate not only influences mental health, but also contains health-related ingredients?

Combining two trends in one solution

The demand for health-related products has come into even sharper focus. People understood that health does not exist as a singular concept. It is an integration of various aspects. This means that people are looking for different focuses of health-related functions. It is no longer enough to be health-related in the statement, you have to be more specific (focus, sleep, relax etc.).

We at Martin Bauer have the solution to answer both demands: indulgence and (health related) specific functionalities. With our SuperFine powder we can add value to your chocolate. SuperFine are micro-milled powders made 100% from plants. With our solution we bring 100% natural botanicals into your chocolate with color and the associated benefits like relaxation or energy. This takes your chocolate to new dimensions.
