The Martin Bauer Group invests in its “freshly brewed” infusions

Production capacity has been expanded thanks to a newstate-of-the-art production facility, enabling the Group to respond to increased consumer demand for premium beverages.

Vestenbergsgreuth – Modern consumers want natural products, authentic flavors, and certified ingredients. In recent years there has also been heightened demand for freshly brewed beverages. New ideas are required to respond to this clear consumer trend. The Martin Bauer Group has taken up the challenge, and last year it installed new production facilities at its U.S. site.

The project to expand the Strong Infusions facility at the company’s headquarters in Vestenbergsgreuth, Germany began in June 2019. Strong Infusions are botanical extracts that are treated extremely gently and undergo minimal processing. That way, the flavor and aroma of the natural products are retained, and the infusion tastes like it has just been brewed. “Strong Infusions are microbiologically sensitive,” says Stefan Engl, Head ofExtract Production at the Vestenbergsgreuth site and a member of the project’s core team. “They have a shelf life of nine to twelve months, which is why for this product line we have switched to just-in-time manufacturing rather than keeping stocks in the warehouse.” The new facility guarantees that the necessary capacities will be available, particularly during the peak season. The new production line can even be paired with the existing one, increasing productivity by 140 percent and enabling the Group to deliver to its customers quickly, efficiently, and in exactly the right quantities.

At the same time as the new extraction facility was being built, the site’s aseptic filling line was enhanced. The new system went online in April 2020, expanding the plant’s aseptic filling capacity by 50 percent.

“We have state-of-the-art technology, we are becoming even more competitive, and we are taking a great leap forward into the future of extracts,”said Arpad Brezovski, Managing Director of Extract Production. The ten-person core team oversaw planning and construction of the facility from the earliest phases until it went online in September 2020. Stefan Engl praised the high level of skill and commitment of everyone on the team. Thanks to their excellent work, and that of all external partners, the project was brought to completion within the allotted time and budget – and that despite a global pandemic.
