The Tea Trends 2019 – what the branch is expecting

The global tea market is showing significant trends for 2019. It becomes clear that trends that already gained market presence in 2018 will continue their success on the shelves. Three trends stand out in particular.

FUNCTIONAL TEAS FOR A TASTY  TOTAL CARE
On the basis of the mega-trend “health”, the demand for teas with functional ingredients and additives continues to rise. Therefore the products for this particular product group are constantly being further developed. Ingredients such as green tea or tulsi are mixed with additional vitamins, minerals or super foods such as the trend ingredient turmeric. This turns a functional drink into a genuine lifestyle product.

VEGGIE TEAS: VEGETABLES OUT OF THE CUP
Plant-based nutrition has developed out of its niche and has become a real trend. So it is not surprising that beetroot and co. are not only found in soups, but also in tea. These surprising “vegetable teas” are based on both balanced and creative combinations of classic tea ingredients such as apple and rose hip and tea newcomers such as tomatoes and basil.

STRONG TASTE ON THE TEA SHELF
In some markets, they are already an integral part of the tea shelf – intensely tasting teas with vanilla, cinnamon or even rum flavour. In 2019 this trend will continue to spread worldwide. All lovers of aromatic strong tasting beverages can therefore look forward to this trend. The aromatic teas leave nothing to be desired in terms of taste.
